MANILA: Toyo Wins Asia’s 50 Best One To Watch Award 2018

What an exciting time for the Philippines– Toyo Eatery wins the 2018 Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants One  To Watch Award!!!

Selected by the organizers of Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants, in collaboration with its regional experts, the Miele One To Watch Award is presented to a restaurant that is outside the Asia’s 50 Best list but is identified as the rising star of the region. Toyo Eatery’s owner-chef Jordy Navarra will formally accept the award at the sixth Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants awards on March 27, 2018 in Macau.

TOYO EATERY- PHILIPPINES- MIELE ONE TO WATCH AWARD 2018- ASIA's 50 BEST RESTAURANTS 2018

“As Toyo Eatery approaches its second anniversary, this award is the gift we never saw coming,” explained Jordy in an official interview with World’s 50 Best. “Being granted the Miele One To Watch Award by such a respected authority is an amazing honor. Toyo Eatery is still in its infancy and we still have much to do, but we’re inspired to learn from the chefs whose restaurants are included in the list of Asia’s 50 Best.”

“Toyo Eatery impresses us by taking inspiration from everyday local ingredients and recipes and bringing them to the level of culinary excellence with passion, expertise and a progressive approach,” said Mario Miranda, Regional Managing Director Asia at Miele. “This same attitude involving constant improvement and innovation are part of Miele’s ‘Immer Besser’ brand philosophy. We are honored to present this year’s Miele One To Watch Award to Jordy Navarra and the team of Toyo Eatery.”

I was invited by  World’s 50 Best Restaurants to share my thoughts on how Toyo is championing our Filipino cuisine and I’ll end this post by linking you to the post. (Or you can click HERE to read it.)

Apart from Toyo, Jordy and his team are also running their take on a Filipino bakery called Panaderya Toyo, which they opened in January. It’s two doors from the restaurant, and if you haven’t been, I highly recommend giving it a visit.

Congratulations again, Team Toyo!!! xx

Back in Manila, Philippines– Toyo Eatery has opened their take on a Filipino bakery. Panaderya Toyo, located two doors down, serves bread crafted by baker Richie Manapat, using only natural and organic ingredients– following the tradition of Spanish bread making. (i.e. There are no baguettes here, instead, barras.) 🍞🥖 • Toyo Eatery's Jordy Navarra and team are in charge of the "palaman" on the menu– crispy fish and tortang talong on scrambled free-range eggs; cured pork w/ pickled cucumber and lime in soy butter; and my personal favorite- torched saikoro steak w/ soy & mustard paste topped w/ crispy onions. 👌👌👌 • They are open Tuesday to Saturday from 11AM to 6PM.. so you can technically enjoy "Toyo" during the day!🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭 #panaderyatoyo #toyoeatery #brunch #bakery #bread #thealleyatkarrivin #karrivinplaza #makati #manila #philippines #filipino #madeinthephilippines
